In 1980 Northland Children’s Services opened a 12-bedroom home for families with seriously ill children. This home was located at 613 Second Street SW in Rochester. In 1990 the Northland House was invited to become a licensed Ronald McDonald House.

In 1995 they moved to their current location and today operate a 42 room facility for patients of both St. Marys and Methodist hospitals. Reservations are on a first come fist serve basis and are coordinated only through the Mayo Clinic.
