On the southeast side of the Gatewood West Historic District is a shopping area known as The Plaza. On the west side of the building at 1715 N.W. 16th Street, which is currently vacant, is a whimsical mural done in pastel colors on a brick wall.
The mural was commissioned in 2001 by Picasso's Cafe, a business which never did open at this location. I see that the cafe is in business at another location in the Paseo district of Oklahoma City. The mural shows a flying lady holding a cup of coffee, as she flies over water, with trees and mountains in the background.
Beneath her is a quotation from Pablo Picasso, reading "The important thing is to do, and nothing else, be that what it may."
Several artists' names are shown at the bottom:
Kristin Oliver, Collin Shotts, Lauren Michelle, Rose Feurrer, Vanessa Rae, Luke* and Lark O'Neill.
