About the Bridge:

The bridge is part of Interstate 76 as it crosses between Camden, New Jersey and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Evidently, to get to New Jersey is free, but escaping back to Pennsylvania, will cost you $4.00 in a toll.

An interesting fact about this bridge is that it is seven lanes; the center lane is a "zipper lane" that alternates to give the heavier traffic direction an additional lane, switching between three and four lanes.

About the Person:

Walt Whitman May 31, 1819 – March 26, 1892) was an American poet, essayist and journalist. During the American Civil War, he became a nurse; some influence to his poetry came during these dark years. After a stroke in 1873, he moved to Camden, New Jersey, where he spent his last years.

Year it was dedicated: 1957
