Fight for the Radio was the conflict between the Czechoslovak citizens and soldiers invading army in 1968.
The fight was unequal from the start. Czechoslovaks had to defend only stones. This fight became a symbol of resistance against invading foreign armies in the August 1968.
At the night of 20st August 1968 launched a five troops of the Warsaw Pact invasion in Czechoslovakia. One of the first targets was the Czechoslovak radio - a center uncensored information about the invasion of Warsaw Pact.
About seven o'clock in the morning the battle between the people and the occupiers have moved in the front of the radio building. People there raised a high barricade.
At half past seven, six Soviet tanks arrived in front of the radio. Prague citizens welcomed tanks the spray stones. After one tank ran into the barricade and caught fire, the situation changed. One of the barricade defenders climbed on the tank and began waving the flag of Czechoslovakia. The driver of the tank he tried unsuccessfully to shake off maneuvers with his machine. Finally, this man was shot by one of the soldiers. Followed by a barrage of Soviet troops in the Czechoslovak people. There were many wounded and several dead. The afternoon of gunfire echoed Vinohradská class and some houses were burning, but the radio was already occupied.
