Per the Quilt Trail website , we learn:
The quilt this mural was patterned after was made by Paul Coates Mother-In-Law who grew up on the farm. She was part Cherokee Indian and often used bright colors in her quilts. The mural was painted by art students at nearby Sullivan South High School in Kingsport. They were led in this effort by Art Instructor Betty O'neid. The floral detail in the center star was painted by a female student who returned to her native Mexico upon her graduation in May 2004.

The bright red colors of this quilt block are best seen from along Interstate 81 just past the Exit 63 northbound entrance ramp. The given coordinates are at the fence row, thus as close as you can get.

Your Visit:
Thought I had waymarked this barn quilt in 2010 so was surprised during a review to find nobody. Main problem is only really viewed from the interstate. Sunny day to take clear photos.
