O Caminho de Ferro Mineiro do Lena foi construído com a finalidade
de transportar minério de carvão das minas da Barrojeira e da
Bezerra até à rede da CP, na estação de Martingança, Linha do
Oeste.
Este caminho de ferro começou a operar em 1924, entre Martingança e
Batalha, com bitola de 60 cm. Em 1928 a linha foi convertida para
bitola métrica, altura em que a grande Skoda 2-8-2, nº 10 começou a
circular.
O CFML continuou a transportar carvão até 1938/39, altura em que
começou a entrar em decadência.
Em 1941 as Skoda foram vendidas para o Ferrocarril de La
Robla.
O restante material circulante foi adquirido pela CP, para as suas
linhas de via métrica. |
The Railway Miner Lena was constructed for the purpose
to transport ore from the mines of coal of Barrojeira and Bezerra
to the CP's network at station Martingança, West Line.
The railway started operating in 1924, between Martingança and
Batalha, with a gauge of 60 cm. In 1928 the line was converted to
meter gauge, when the great Skoda 2-8-2, No. 10 began to
circulate.
CFML continued to carry coal until 1938/39, when
began going downhill.
In 1941 the Skoda were sold to the Ferrocarril de La
Robla.
The remaining rolling stock was purchased by CP, for their
