The museum is house in a 16th century mill house and attached 18th century water mill. The mill house houses exhibits of local historical interest. In particular there is an exhibition of early shop items and memorabilia connected to Welwyn.

At the heart of the museum is the water mill itself. The water mill was restored by the Mill Green Water Mill Restoration Trust between 1979 and 1986. The mill can be seen turning most days and will produce flour on

Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 12.30pm, and 1.30 to 3.30pm

On Sundays and Bank Holidays from 2 to 4.30pm

The museum is free (donations welcomed) and opens

10am until 5pm, Tuesdays-Fridays

2pm until 5pm on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.
