Woolly mammoth sculpture is a part of the history of the area. The sculpture is made of scrap iron. The plaque by the sculpture states: WOOLLY MAMMOTH (Mammuthus primigenius) I ate only plants but weighed as much a four pick-up trucks. It was just yeasterday that I disappeared from this land - about 11,000 years ago. For more than 100,000 years, I roamed the edges of the glacers here with giant horses, mastodons and bison. When people arrived, they hunted us for food, and as the glacers receded, my kind eventually disappeared.
