Knebworth House has been the home of the Lytton family since the 1400's, but it was the Victorians who began to inter their pets on the grounds, in an area of the formal gardens.

There are pets burials from just a few years ago, and pets from the 1800's. See the gallery for some interesting 'headstones'. Most notable is Beau, beloved pet dog of Edward Bulwer-Lytton, author and playwright, famous for writing "The pen is mightier than the sword..." and "It was a dark and stormy night..."
