Built by an oilman and former Montana Senator T.S. Hogan, it was designed by architect Wyatt C. Hedrick to compliment the Petroleum Building next door. Constructed in 1927 and opened in 1929, it seated some 1600 patrons, and was used for both live vaudeville and cinema presentations.
Its exterior architectural has been described as Assyrian, Egyptian, Moorish, but regardless of which it might mirror the most, it is definitely flamboyant.
Closed in 1976, it has been restored and is now used as a venue for live performances in the summer. It is located at 208 North Colorado Street, and a visit to downtown Midland should include a stop to view this very interesting theater.
