This water tower is also a benchmark.The following was taken from the benchmark description."01/01/1970 by NGS (FIRST OBSERVED)
DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1970 (PEC) THE STATION IS LOCATED IN THE NORTHERN SECTION OF BOCA RATON. IT IS A BOWL SHAPED TANK WITH DOME TOP, SUPPORTED BY 6-TUBE TYPE LEGS, 122 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER LINE OF DOUBLE LANE STREET, 82 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF A SHELL ROAD AND APPROXIMATELY 125 FEET HIGH. THE POINT INTERSECTED WAS THE FINIAL ATOP THE TANK." The shell road has since been paved.There are no markings or lettering on the tank.I count seven support legs.
