This memorial can be found at an intersection in a suburban area, on municipal property. The principal namesake of the monument/memorial and the road it faces are one and the same, Carl Hasselhan. (366 Carl Hasselhan Dr).

The monument is in three sections, composed of gray granite, 3 feet high and each piece, rectangularish. The slap on the left is slanted at the top and the slab on the right is also slanted at the top to overall give the appearance of a gable. All of this is on a stone pedestal, solid and unbroken.

The left side of the memorial has its own inscription. It reads: In Memory of Those Who Left Us While Serving in the Department. There are eight names in all, with room for about three more. The right side, empty, has the same inscription and is simply awaiting more names.

The center inscription reads:

In Memory of
CARL H.
HASSELHAN

Born
October 15, 1958

Lost His LIfe
In The Line of Duty
October 20, 1979.

On top of this center piece and inscription is a roundish piece bearing the symbol and name of the fire department. The memorial is well-maintained, in terrific shape and easily viewable from the road, as it was intended to be.
