This tree caught my attention when we were visiting the veterans memorial at this location, and when we looked more closely at the tree, we were surprised to see it had "eaten" an old sign!

And from the wording on the sign, it does appear to be very old. The portion of the sign that is still visible reads "Reserved for Ladies and their Escorts".
