The Biblical Lebanon was located on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean Sea north of Israel, but this tiny Iowa community sits in the middle of the cornfields at the end of a lonely paved road. Only 3-4 houses and one church remain, but memories of residents live on.

“…I have ascended the heights of the mountains, the utmost heights of Lebanon, I have cut down its tallest cedars, the choicest of its pines…” Is. 37:24.

This Iowa prairie town of Lebanon could not possibly have been named because of its towering peaks, and now we know what happened to any trees that might have grown there! Perhaps the 60th chapter of Isaiah is more appropriate:

“The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the pine, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn the place of my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place of my feet.” Isaiah 60: 13.
Bible verse: Isaiah. 37:24 and Isaiah 60:13
