If you ask any local where George Washington Memorial Park is located, you will almost always be met by a blank stare. But tell them Jackson Town Square and EVERYONE knows where that is!

The square is most well known for the huge arches constructed of elk antlers from the nearby National Elk Refuge. There is one of these arches at each corner of the square. Local Boy Scouts pick up antlers on the Elk Refuge each year to sell as a fund raising project and to occasionally rebuild the arches.

The park was designated as a memorial to George Washington on the 200th anniversary of his birth in 1932. The square contains a veteran's memorial in the very center of the square and a flagpole to the west of the memorial which carries the plaque denoting its placement on the National Register.
