Local Veterans Groups and members of many organizations of Bent county contributed the ideas, funding and eventual placement of this monument in April of 2005 at an approximate cost of $800.00.

 Description of Memorial: The monument stone itself is carved with the Service Symbols of the U.S. Military 4 major branches. It is a 5 foot tall 5 inch thick stone made of polished granite which inturn is mounted on a 2-Teir stone base
It is located in a small 50x50 foot arched area located in the northwest corner of the Las Animas County Courthouse lawns.
