Beacon Hill Trig sits on top of a circular limstone block lookout tower that was built to commemerate Robe's sesquicentennial commemorations in 1996.
The lookout tower was built over the original trig point located on Beacon Hill. The trig point (brass plaque) was relocated to the centre of the viewing platform after it was built.
