The fountain is a contemporary artistic work, built in 1990. It is circular in design, surrounded by buildings radiating away from a central point.

The two statues have been made thanks to the support of the daughter of Jacques Zwobada, a french artist that used to live in this neighborhood in the early 1900s. The statues are sculptures by the artist, created in 1967. The two characters are "Ballerina" and "Dormiente".

To prevent corrosion of the black stone of the statues, a de-calcifying filter is used in the waterworks installed under the fountain. The filter is a "Quantum Acqua", installed by the company FreeBioEnergy.

The fountain appeared in a movie, "Baciami Ancora", by director Gabriele Muccino.
