[PT]O Parque Zoológico da Maia foi criado em 1985 por iniciativa da Junta de Freguesia da maia, com o objectivo inicial de criar um espaço pedagógico e de lazer para as crianças. Os primeiros animais foram dois casais de saguis, três macacos e algumas aves, gentilmente cedidos pelo Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa.

[ENG]The Zoo da Maia was created in 1985 by initiative of the Parish of Maya, with the original purpose of creating a learning space and recreation for children. The first animals were two pairs of marmosets, three monkeys and some birds, kindly provided by the Lisbon Zoo.
