A dozen or more Oklahoma towns put on fantastic Christmas light shows, and Yukon is one of the best. Located on the 100 acres of Yukon's three parks: Yukon City Park, Freedom Trail Playground, and Chisholm Trail Park, along I-40 in the southeastern part of Yukon, this is a drive-thru display you won't want to miss.
There are almost 300 light displays, with the number growing each year. Up to 4 million lights will dazzle you as you drive through the parks. There are also horse drawn carriage rides, the Santa Express train, and self-walking tours throughout the area.
Some of the displays you will see include:
• Computer-animated lights synchronized to music broadcast over car radios
• 34 foot tall OG&E Dancing Christmas Tree with 77,000 lights
• 1,350 square foot pavilion featuring a 50 foot keyboard, a guitar player and a drummer with jumping arches
• Santa’s Toy Shop, with busy helpers building gifts and loading his sleigh. It is 30 feet tall by 150 feet wide and has 7,000 lights.
• Santa’s Oasis depicts Santa relaxing during summer vacation. It is 32 feet wide and 207 feet long, reflecting off of Mulvey Pond.
Beginning on the Saturday before Thanksgiving and running through New Years Eve, the display is open from 6:00pm to 11:00pm each night. Admission is free, however, donations are very much appreciated, to keep the displays repaired, enhanced, and new ones coming all the time. This is definitely something you want to put on your holiday travel list. (Week nights may have the advantage of shorter lines).
