Der nach List-West zweitnördlichste Leuchtturm von Deutschland steht auf der Nordostseite der Insel Sylt, fast am Ende der Halbinsel "Ellenbogen". Das Leuchtfeuer dient als Leit- und Quermarkenfeuer für das Fahrwasser "Lister-Tief" mit einem Leitsektor für das "Hoyer Dyp".
Der weiße Turm mit rotem Band wurde 1857 von der Isselburger Hütte aus gusseisernen Platten auf einem Betonfundament erstellt. Das rote Laternenhaus ist eine Stahlkonstruktion mit einem Kupferdach. Zusammen mit seinem 2700 m entfernt stehenden Zwillingsturm List-West sind sie die ältesten noch aktiven Leuchttürme Deutschlands mit einem Gusseisenturm. 1936 hat man das Feuer auf elektrisches Licht mit einer Glühlampe umgestellt. Als Leuchtmittel wird heute eine Halogen-Metalldampflampe 230V / 250W verwendet. Der Turm war bis 1977 bemannt, danach wurde das Feuer vom Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Tönning ferngesteuert.
Den Leuchtturm List-Ost erreicht man über eine ca. 5 km lange, für Kraftfahrzeuge mautpflichtige Privatstraße auf dem Ellenbogen.
The second most northern to List West Lighthouse of Sylt, Germany is on the northeast side of the island, almost at the end of the peninsula "elbow". The beacon serves as a guide and cross light of the fairway, "Lister Tief " a leading sector for the "Hoyer DYP.
The white tower with red band was created in 1857 Isselburger from the hut made of cast iron plates on a concrete foundation. The Red Lantern House is a steel structure with a copper roof. Together with its 2700 meters standing twin towers List-West, they are the oldest active lighthouse in Germany with a cast iron tower. 1936, has changed over the fire to electric light with a bulb. As bulbs now a metal halide lamp is used for 230V / 250W. The tower was manned until 1977, after which the fire from the Water and Shipping Authority Tönning remotely.
The Lighthouse List-East can be reached via a 5 km long, for motor vehicles private road toll on the elbow.
