There was a plan to raise the water level of Wastwater (lake) to provide more water for Sellafield reprocessing plant. After a public enquiry this was rejected and Ennerdale Water used instead. Wastwater has already got a pump house to extract water near 54°25.402'N, 3°19.050'W.
