At 1:30 PM, the British retreating from Concord entered this area, right at the border of Lincoln and Lexington. Here they met up with angry Lexington Militia men. The plaque reads:
"As the British troops fought their way along the Battle Road, Captain John Parker and the Lexington Militia, joined by the newly arrived Cambridge Militia, attacked them from this area. Emotions ran high, since British troops had killed eight of the Lexington men and wounded ten others early that morning on the Green.
Artifacts found on this hillside behind you suggest that much of the fighting occurred here. One Lexington man, Jedidiah Munroe, who was wounded that morning, was killed in this area. Possibly, two British soldiers perished here."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
