Situated on the Iffley Road in East Oxford, was one of the smallest constituent Halls of the University of Oxford. Greyfriars had undoubtedly one of the most distinctive buildings in Oxford; it is the only flint-stone Norman-style building in Oxford

Cobbles, mostly flint, became a common building material from the Middle Ages onwards in England and a few parts of Northern Europe where they are easily found; this is usually known as "flint architecture" in England.

This is a beautiful example of that architecture.
