The Hurd Mansion on the rise behind the William Kyle & Sons building was gone by the 1950's.

The Kyle building was built in 1901 by William Kyle. It served as a mercantile into the 1960's and the upstairs was a social center for the town of Florence. Today the structure is home the the Bridgewater Restaurant and Lounge.

The little park that now is located here was at one time the ferry landing where all traffic crossed the Siuslaw River. When the Siuslaw River Bridge opened in 1936 the ferry became obsolete and was shut down.
