On the summit of Cabo Girão, west of Funchal and Camara de Lobos is a geodetic marker, a standard trig point.

This trig point is well above the normal viewpoint or miradouro. Park at the large church at the summit and follow the trail past the communication tower. We came here because the normal viewpoint was under reconstruction to accommodate more large tour busses. This is a popular viewpoint. We were hoping for a better view but the brush and forest hides the view now better seen lower down.
