Burrell Blanton was a private during the Revolutionary War. He served in the Company commanded by Captain Nevals in the Regiment of militia commanded by Colonel John Earls (Earles) He was drafted in Rutherford County in the year 1781 for the term of three months and continued to serve for a term or 3 month and 10-days. Private Blanton was honorably discharged at Earle's Station in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Private Blanton lived to be almost 98 years old and died in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Private Blanton is resting in the Sunset Cemetery in Shelby, North Carolina
