On a great hike from Fontes to Pico da Cruz we went over to the geodetic marker on high meadow of Chão dos Terreiros before looping back past the Posta Florestal Trompica.

This is a great hike with views over up to the wall of high peaks from Encumeada to Pico Grande, down to Serra de Agua, across to Paul da Serra and even down to the sea at Camara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava.
The geodetic trig point at the summit was the standard square concrete tower, painted black and white. The summit area was burned in the August 2010 fires but the pasture area was green. The clouds rolled in by noon limiting our views.
