There is an fine scenic viewpoint giving views of the north coast cliffs near Arcos do Sao Jorge, at a hairpin turn between São Jorge and Arco do São Jorge. This gives excellent views over Arco do São Jorge and along past Ponta Delgata.

A scenic viewpoint in Portuguese is “miradouro” There are many posted miradouros on the island of Madeira as the scenery here is incredible. This miradouro at a hairpin turn as you leave São Jorge and enter Arcos do São Jorge has been taken over by fruit vendors offering local fruits and vegetables. Carpe Diem! Seize the opportunity. Taste the free sample of their special bananas, buy a bunch and enjoy the view along the coast.
