Kostel v Prusínech je prvne datován roku 1366. Dnešní barokní podobu dostal v roce 1722. Architektonicky na prestavbu dohlížel František Maxmilián Kanka. Financne se na stavbe podílel hrabe Adam Jindrich ze Steinau, Maršál Benátské republiky, majitel panství Nebílovy a Žinkovy, který je zde i pochovaný.
Kostel je prirozenou dominantou místního kraje, jak ve dne, tak v noci. Je totiž nasvícen.
