Along Lexington Road, between Concord center and Meriam's Corner, lies this simple marker, causing an indentation in the picket fence surrounding the property near which it is located. The marker is on the north side of the road, just east of the intersection with Hawthorne Lane. The marker commemorates the efforts of Ephraim Wales Bull, and reads:

"Ephraim Wales Bull planted seeds of a wild Labrusca grape found growing on this hillside which, after three generations, through his work and wisdom, became the Concord grape."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
