Depicting Thomas A Beckett in prayer as Archbishop of Canterbury the sign shows an arch framing his figure with a monk in the background and cross on the wall.

This pub is where the Mcmanus pub company began 30 years ago when Anne and Mick McManus took over The Green Man as it was once called. Their son Gary took over the business in 1989 and now he and his brother develop new ideas in other pubs.

The name Thomas A Beckett originates from Northampton's history as described in this Wikipedia paragraph: 'The town and its castle were important in the early 12th century and the King often held Court in the town. During his famous fall out with Henry II, Thomas Becket at one time escaped from Northampton Castle through the unguarded Northern gate to flee the country.'
