This schoolhouse holds a lot of history. Built as the area school house this building later was used as the Sherman Town Hall. Presently it is for sale. My Mother used to go to this school in the late 1930's as did my cousins. This was the school that my Aunt first taught at and my other Aunt and Grandmother were the school cooks. The trees surrounding the building were planted by the school children nearly 75 years ago. The building is in great shape, original hardwood floors, woodwork and more. If only the walls could talk. I believe the school closed in the early 1980's. It was used as a town hall until the new one was built in the early 1990's.
The settlement of Springstead is in Sherman Township, Iron County, Wisconsin and is in the heart of Wisconsin's Northwoods.
