?The Westcliff School was built in 1891. The architect was Archie Scherer.
Made of fieldstone, concrete, and rhyolite, this one one room school was originally called the "Rock School". It was later renamed the Westcliff School (without the usual final "e"). The school was closed in 1953 and rehabilitated into a community center. The school now houses the offices and exhibits of the Custer County Historical society and Genealogical Society and the Valley Park and recreation Youth Center, Inc.
The Westcliff School was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987
