The caboose was built in 1956 and saw service for the Milwaukee Road in Minnesota and the Milwaukee area. When the Soo Line acquired the bankrupt Milwaukee Road in the mid 1980's, the caboose was repainted in Soo Line colors and re-numbered 179. In May 1992, the caboose was acquired by the Sturtevant and repainted to its original colors. Today it is the Caboose Railroad museum and is used for local community events such as Santa Claus visits.
