This eternal flame is located in the 5th. ditrict of Budapest, at the corner of Hold and Báthory streets.
In this place (it was the former "New Building - Military fort") was executed by shot in 6th. october of 1849 Earl Lajos Batthyány, (1807–1849)the first independent prime-minister of Hungary after the fall of the revolution.
The municipality council has decided in 1905 to built this monument to the martyr prime minister but it is delayed because of the WWI.
The inauguration ceremony was in 6th. october of 1926.
