?Mustang is a controversial sculpture located on the grounds of the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art on the OU campus. The rump and underside are white with blue patches, but most of the mustang is a bright blue color. He is reared up, on his two hind legs. One of the most unusual things about this horse sculpture is the piercing red eyes.

The horse's back legs are secured on a rock-type foundation that has many pieces imbedded in it: some green patches of grass, horseshoe, spur.

When the Mustang was first installed on campus, there was a rose garden placed around it. It was quite a controvery at the time, with some Norman residents feeling the red eyes were "demonic" and the horse "possessed".

Jimenez has a blue Mustang sculpture at Denver's International Airport that has caused a huge ruckus and controversy. The sculptor died when a piece of that Mustang fell on him, severing his femoral artery. Some Denver residents feel the sculpture is a bad omen because of the death of Jimenez, and in addition the bright red eyes make the horse a scary welcome to guests flying in to the city.

The Mustang is one of many sculptures located on the campus of the University of Oklahoma, including several on the Smithsonian list. The Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art is a must-see to anyone visiting Norman.

Background Story:
This horse sculpture has been controversial from the get-go, and the other blue mustang by Jimenez, located at the Denver Airport, has caused a huge ruckus. The fact that the artist died while making the Denver mustang sculpture makes a lot of people feel it's an omen, and the red eyes are demonic looking!
