It's almost easy to miss spotting this historical marker, which is tucked into the landscaping along a path at the Oklahoma City Zoo. The marker reads:
"Oklahoma City Zoo/The first and oldest zoo in the/Southwestern United States/Established 1904 in Wheeler Park/Destroyed by the Great Flood of 1923 and/Moved to Lincoln Park."
It was placed by the Oklahoma Historical Society.
