This is MY opinion of the best fish and chips in New Plymouth. Incredible value for money, the Chinese staff are always friendly, and the service is superb.

I know for a fact, people do drive from all quarters of New Plymouth to buy their fish and chips from here - there is often a queue "out the door".

What I especially like is their generosity. We always order 4 gurnard - that's a piece and a half each adult, and one piece for the cats, plus a sausage to share with the dog, with half scoop chips - and invariably get 5 or 6 pieces of gurnard. Thought it was a mistake the first time, but as it always occurs so I guess that's their way. Incidentally that meal costs $14.20.

No fancy packaging - just triple wrapped in newsprint with poked steam holes. Always beautifully cooked in fresh Canola oil. They must filter or change the oil every day as there's never excess oil or an old oil taste.

They also do specials - like 3 fish, 1 hotdog, $2 chips for $10
or for $15 you get 3 fish, 3 sausages, 3 crabsticks, 3 potato fritters and chips. They also do a Fisherman's Basket with crumbed scallops, oysters, squid rings along with the fish, crab sticks and chips.
The reason we don't purchase the Specials is the fish is Lemon fish (otherwise known as shark), which I've been led to believe 'ammoniates' - turns to ammonia in a cat's gut - making them quite unwell.

All up, just superb, and highly recommended.
