When this station was in operation (until the 1990s) you and your surfboard could step off the train, cross the street, and be in the waves within a minute or two. Today, although Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner as well as the Coaster commuter trains pass through this station, none of them stops here. The nearest active station is in the next town to the north, Solana Beach.

The station appears to be empty and is not open to the public.

UPDATE: An article in a Feb. 2012 issue of the North County Times says that there are plans to possibly reactivate the station on a limited basis. Nothing definite yet, though.
