"Rockwell's Station" refers to the business that was operated by Orin Porter Rockwell, who had served as Brigham Young's bodyguard in the 1830s. Rockwell was a member of the Morman "protection group" called the Danites, an anti-terrorist organization.
Rockwell was appointed Territorial Marshall of Deseret (Utah) in September of 1850. Both the Pony Express and the Overland Stage had scheduled stops at his establishment here.
