This pier was opened in November 1997 to replace the original one, demolished in 1964.
The pier is 300 metres long, the deck is 6 metres wide and is supported on 17 piles. The pre stress concrete deck is 7 metres above the water at the end. The water is 2 meters deep at that point.
The pier has been designed with the fisherman in mind as there is water and fish cleaning sinks at the end. The local Asian community catch crab using a nasty looking multi hooked contraption.
