There are a number of explanations for the appearance of compasses on pub signs.

There is of course the ship-borne compass that helps to steer the way. A single pair of compasses appears on the coat of arms of the masons, three appear on the coat of arms of carpenters, but in this case we have two as appear on the arms of joiners.

The "JT" comes from I know not where. Karaoke is not a traditional element of British pub signs.
