There is a certain irony in the Painter's Arms being so badly in need of being re-painted!

Unlikely as it may seem, there is a Guild of Painters (and Stainers) with its own coat of arms and a a banqueting hall in Blackfriars, London. This guild though, has its roots in the painting and staining of banners and murals. This guild dates back to medieval times. However, this 'arms' seems to swerve away from the guilds a little, whilst maintaining some of the elements of the original arms. It is now rather more complex than the original.
