New Jersey diners were the prototype for fast-food restaurants...and this was the prototype of diners. This small hole-in-the-wall and greasy spoon is known for it's burgers and fries...and it was originally part of the 1939 New York World's Fair's "World of Tomorrow" in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, NY. The diner has just a few booths and 13 stools set around a circular counter.
By the way, the original name was White Manna (as other diners owned by the same proprietor were known)- but, the original signmaker for this one made an error...and the name stuck.
It's current location in Jersey City is along Tonnele Avenue...a busy thoroughfare with lots of cheap motels and truck stops.
