Not an awfully common name for a pub even though it must be one of the most common trades.

London has over 30 pubs with a name referring to bricklayers. Bedfordshire, was at one time one of the major brick-making areas in the country. As nearby as Arlesey, brick-making was a known trade.

Co-incidentally, recent excavations in Queen Street have revealed that there was a brick-making industry in Queen Street nearby.
