On Pico do Cedro, a minor summit with an elevation 0f 1759 m, about a mile west of Pico do Arieiro is a Portuguese geodetic marker.

We hiked over to Pico do Cedro from Pico do Arieiro because the trail to Pico do Gato/Ruivo as closed. The geodetic marker on the top attracted us over to enjoy the views from that point. The trail starts as a marked PR with red and yellow markers but that trail goes down the valley. The trail to Pico do Cedro is clearly visible heading almost in a straight line to the summit marker. There are some significant ups and downs along the way but this is a moderate hike with great views of the surrounding mountains.
