This 9,000 square foot Victorian Romanesque style building was built by mine owner/entrepreneur Jesse Knight by Richard C. Watkins, a well-known Provo and Ogden architect. The building housed Knight's commercial enterprises, and was built on the site of the former Provo East Co-op.
The building was designed with both public and private space, the lower level containing public businesses, including housing the Schwab Clothing Store, which utilized the large plate glass windows for advertising their wares. The upper level 2 levels housed Mr. Knights business operations. The massive tower on the southwest corner houses two clocks.
