The text of the marker is duplicated on both sides of the marker and reads:
“Camp Ground Methodist Church ~ Known as camping ground as early as 1811, this was a favorite spot for both Indians and whites. Bishop Francis Asbury, enroute to first Methodist conference in Kentucky, 1790, held worship near here. First church was lf logs, erected by a generous gift from Amos Shinkle, who was president of The Covington~Cincinnati Bridge Company. Present building was constructed in 1876. 1976 Kentucky Historical Society Kentucky Department of Transportation 1574”
