There as been active human involvement with salmon spawning at Weaver Creek since the 1880s. In 1965 the Department of Fisheries and Oceans built an extensive meandering gravel creek to create the ideal conditions for eggs, alevin, and fry to grow.

During the peak spawning season during October the grounds are open to the public to wonder through and see the many fish that have returned to this valuable resource.
